Natuna - Fishermen in Natuna Regency, Lembu, Riau Islands (Kepri) spotted several foreign fishing vessels (KIA) carrying out illegal fishing activity in the eastern part of the Natuna Sea. This certainly made local fisherman felt uncomfortable.

A fisherman from Tanjung Seri, Jemengan area, Ranai, Deden told that he saw and had time to record KIA's illegal fishing activity near his area.

Deden admitted that he had captured the activities of the foreign vessels using his cellphone on Friday (11/20/2020) yesterday and uploaded it to his social media on Friday (27/11/2020).

"I just came home at dawn, from fishing there were 6 pairs of Vietnamese vessels, 12 of which were nets," he told Batamnews, Friday (27/11/2020).

Apart from him and his 2 colleagues, another Natuna fishing boat was also seen in the same location.

From the video he uploaded, he said that 3 pairs of nets were seen and he was sure that the KIA came from Vietnam with the coordinates of 4.14.493 N 109.47.879 E.

When asked whether he and his colleagues had reported this to the Head of Fishermen or local officials, Deden said he was reluctant to report because he was sure that the authorized officers also knew about it.

He also believes that the KIA will come back.

However, he hopes that such an incident will never happen again in the Natuna Sea area.

Meanwhile, Supervision of Marine and Fisheries Resources (PSDKP) Natuna through Korwas SDKP Natuna, Muhammad Afif said that he had received the information and had been processed.
