One Detainee in Batam Died Due to Covid-19

Batam - A detainee at the Class IIA Batam Detention Center was declared dead, after undergoing intensive care at the Embung Fatimah Regional General Hospital (RSUD). The detainee with the initials LS died on Tuesday (20/10/2020).

LS was a patient who has been confirmed positive for Covid-19. He was treated with another detainee named Dwi who was also exposed to Covid-19.

"Yes, he has indeed passed away," said the Head of Batam Health Service, Didi Kusmarjadi, Wednesday (21/10/2020).

Meanwhile, the head of Batam Class II A detention center, Yan Patmos explained that the body of the detainee had been buried under the Covid-19 protocol by wrapping the body with plastic.

Meanwhile, Dwi has been declared recovered from Covid-19. However, Dwi continued to undergo an independent quarantine period for 14 days.

Apart from Dwi, the other detainees who were still in the same block as the two have been isolated and were undergoing Swab. Likewise, with officers who had direct contact with Siswanto and Dwi, they have been swabbed and were undergoing quarantine

"So far, only two people have been confirmed covid-19, one died and one has recovered but is still undergoing quarantine," he said.
