Mongolian Ship Turned to Batam after The Crew Died

Bintan - Class II Tanjunguban Marine and Coast Guard Base (PPLP) deployed KN Kalimasadha P.115 to escort Mongolian-flagged ships entering Indonesian waters for Batam, Saturday (10/10/2020).

Head of Tanjunguban Class II PPLP Capt. Handry Sulfian confirmed that there was a Mongolian-flagged ship that was about to enter Batam. The ship was NO21 Kumjin General Cargo Vessel 1603 Grosse Tone (GT).

"PPLP Tanjunguban has deployed KN Kalimasadha P. 115 led by Putra Wardana to guard the entry of the Korean-owned ship to Batam," Handry said, Sunday (11/10/2020).

Before the ship entered Batam. PPLP Class II Tanjunguban has received information from Apchasan Ship agent NO21 Kumjin regarding the death of the crew or crew.

The PLP class II Tanjunguban base also coordinated directly with the Batam Port Authority Port Authority (KSOP) and Batam VTS so that the ship escort could run smoothly.

"The foreign ship was destined for Bangladesh. However, due to the death of the crew members, they stopped at Batam to evacuate the body," he explained.

Ship NO21 Kumjin General Cargo Vessel 1603 GT contains 6 crew. Meanwhile, the crew member who died was a foreigner from Korea named Park Jihyeon. The crew of the ship died of a heart attack.

"PPLP Class II Tanjunguban always coordinates with all related parties. Because it is an important thing for us who patrol around the border," he said.
