Batam - As many as 3,912.9 Kg of shabu-shabu were destroyed by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of the Riau Islands Province (BNNP Kepri), Friday (9/10/2020). The destruction was carried out using an incinerator machine.

These drugs were smuggled goods that were previously barred from a cross-country narcotics syndicate network on November 20-21, 2020. Three suspects were arrested at that time.

Head of the Riau Islands National Narcotics Agency, Brigadier General Pol Richard Nainggolan, said the illegal goods were smuggled from Malaysia via the sea route in Riau Islands to Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands for distribution.

Richard explained that the methamphetamine was sent from Malaysia which was controlled by AA (51), a man who works as a fisherman in Tanjungpinang.

The crystal methamphetamine was an order from suspect H (25) who was a vegetable farmer. The order process begins with a payment of IDR 30 million via bank transfer.

"After coordinating with his network, methamphetamine was then picked up by B (44 years) in the waters of Penyengat Island, Tanjungpinang. At the port of the people, we secured the suspect B and 4 Kg of methamphetamine evidence," said Richard, Friday (9/10/2020) at BNN of Riau Islands' office.

Richard explained, from the confession of suspect B, he received an order from suspect AA to pick up crystal methamphetamine on the Indonesian Malaysian border in exchange for Rp 20 million in cash.

Based on this information, his team immediately carried out a further investigation and succeeded in securing the AA suspect in Tanjungpinang with 127 grams of crystal methamphetamine.

Richard emphasized that the three suspects would be charged under Act 112 and 114 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics with a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.

"After being tested and set aside for evidence in court, evidence of methamphetamine will also be destroyed using an incinerator in the presence of the suspects," he said.
