Batam - A positive Corona patient in Batam, Riau Islands, died on 11 April 2020. The patient was about to be referred to the Covid-19 referral hospital but it was full.

"Because the condition seems to get weaker, the medical team is trying to make a referral to a government referral hospital. But at that time the referral hospital was full," Batam Mayor HM Rudi said in a written statement received by Batamnews on Monday.

The patient had no choice but to be treated in a private hospital isolation room in Batam Center.

62 years old man works as a surveyor at Punggur Harbor.

"The man is from Bandung, and has only been living in Batam for two months," said Batam Mayor Rudi.

A week before being admitted to the hospital, the patient felt a fever accompanied by shortness of breath which was then taken to a clinic in the Kabil area.

Then the clinic provides treatment, by giving oral medicines. "Then the medical team advised him to get hospitalized," he said.

On April 9, 2020, the patient still felt the same thing, then finally brought back to the clinic and then referred to a private hospital in the Batam Center area.

By the hospital medical team, the patient was examined supporting Laboratory Diagnostic and Photo Thorax with the results found Pneumonia and Cardiomegaly. And also received a Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) with non-reactive results.

"As well as swab samples are also taken, and subsequently determined as Patients Under Supervision," said Rudi.

On April 11, 2020, the patient's condition worsened which was then performed Pulmonary Resuscitation (RJP), but his life could not be helped and finally died at 19.06 WIB.

"And today, we received the swab results from BTKL PP Batam, and the person was stated positive," he said.
