KPK Reminded Batam Entrepreneur to Put an End to Bribery Business Opportunity

Batam - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) encourages the development of a clean business with integrity in The Riau Islands by organizing a coordination meeting with the Regional Advocacy Committee (KAD) and entrepreneur in the Riau Islands.

The meeting was attended by KPK Region II Coordinator Abdul Haris, Chairman of the Batam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Jadi Rajagukguk and Deputy Secretary of the KAD Ernawati and KAD Management Board of Province. 

The purpose of the coordination meeting was to build commitment and cooperation between the regional government and entrepreneur in the Riau Islands region as the function of KPK to carry out the coordination and supervision of corruption prevention in the Riau Islands Province. 

"Through this forum the KPK facilitates to build synergy between the local government and the private sector to build a business world with integrity in Batam. The role of the private sector is very large in efforts to prevent corruption, so do not open opportunities for bribery in business, "explained Haris at the Batam BP Office on Tuesday (2/25/2020). 

KAD is a communication forum between the government and business actors in the form of public-private dialogue that discusses strategic issues related to efforts to prevent corruption at the regional level (KAD) and at the central level (KAN). 

KAD was formed at the initiation of the KPK. The structure of KAD consists of elements of local government, business associations, chambers of commerce, academics, and civil society (NGOs). The process of forming KAD of The Riau Islands has been started since 2018.

In 2019 a Decree of the Governor of the Riau Islands was issued to confirm the establishment of the KAD. After arranging the membership structure, the management compiles an action plan to list the problems faced by business owners in relation to the relationship with the local government as a regulator. 

As an oversight party, the KPK also supervised and monitored the recommendations and action plans prepared by KAD. The KPK can also facilitate KAD to produce recommendations and prepare the action plans.

This corruption prevention efforts was conducted by the KPK as part of the Profit (Professional Integrity) program. A corruption prevention program that aims to encourage integrity development in the business sector to prevent bribery and corruption practices and improve business governance through multisectoral collaboration.

The KPK also developed a corruption prevention guide for the private sector (CEK). Socialization and dissemination of the CEK Guidelines were conducted to Kadin, business associations and to companies.
