Batam, Batamnews - The Batam Customs General Service Office (KPU) stopped the smuggling of illegal beer and cigarettes.

Head of Compliance Guidance and Information Services (BKLI) M. Rizky Badilah said, on August 5, 2021, the goods were loaded from the KM Putri II Putra ship at the location of Perairan Dapur 12.

Patrol of customs officers who approached the ship did not find the crew on board. Allegedly, the crew of the ship escaped by plunging into the sea. Officers eventually searched the ship's cargo.

"A total of 348,480 cans of Carlsberg brand beer," said Rizky, Wednesday (18/8/2021).

Then, continued Rizky, on July 14, 2021, as many as 57,072 cans of Carlsberg beer were secured by Batam Customs in Batu Ampar.

The goods were secured because they did not have a quota permit. However, they are still conducting further investigations.
