The Red Zone of Covid Still Surrounds Batam

Batam, Batamnews - The red zone of Covid-19 in Batam, Riau Islands is expanding. Most recently, 8 out of 12 sub-districts in Batam are in the red zone.

The expansion of the red zone is suspected to be a result of the continuing increase in new Covid-19 cases. There are 40 new cases reported on April 20, 2021, referring to data from the Batam Covid-19 Task Force Team.

The 40 new cases consisted of 5 symptomatic cases and 35 asymptomatic cases.

The positive accumulation of Covid-19 in Batam has now reached 6,684 cases, with 446 active cases or 6.67 percent.

Meanwhile, 19 people had recovered with a cure rate of 90.96 percent or 6,080 people.

The number of patients who died was still 158 people or the death rate is 2.36 percent.

The eight sub-districts that are included in the red zone are Batam Kota, Sei Beduk, Sagulung, Sekupang, Bengkong, Lubuk Baja, Batuaji and Nongsa.

Belakangpadang is the only sub-district that inhabits the orange zone. Meanwhile, Batuampar and Galang are in the yellow zone.
