Batam, Batamnews - The Water and Air Police Unit (Satpolairud) Polresta Barelang, arrested 9 Pakistani foreign nationals as crew members of the MT Metis ship which anchored in Nongsa Waters, Thursday (5/8/2021) at 07.00 WIB.

All crew members will enter the Makobar Batuampar Port, Batam, Riau Islands (Kepri). At the time of the arrest, the agent could not show the documents because they were in the office and were not brought on board.

"The time of the incident was Thursday, August 5, 2021, at 07.00 WIB, the scene was in Batuampar Waters, Batam, Riau Islands," said Head of Polairud Polresta Barelang AKP Syaiful Badawi.

According to Kasat, the chronology is on Thursday (5/8/2021) at around 03.30 WIB. Agents of PT Trans Shiping Sokhifao picked up 9 Pakistani foreigners using a speedboat, namely the SB Sea Elephant. Then, he picked up the crew from the MT Metis ship which was anchored in Nongsa Waters.

"When the SB Sea Elephant sailed to the Batuampar Makobar Port, in the Batuampar Waters the Sub Directorate of Gakkum Sat Polairud Polresta Barelang inspected one ship carrying 9 Pakistani foreigners as crew members of the MT Metis ship," he said.

Furthermore, 9 foreigners and shipping agents were taken to the Police Headquarters of the Barelang Polresta for the implementation of rapid antigen and further interrogation.

The modus operandi is the shipping agent PT Trans Shiping for these 9 Pakistani foreigners who descended from the Batam's Batuampar Waters to the Batu Ampar Makobar Port, Batam, Riau Islands with the excuse of heading to the Harris Batam Center Hotel, Batam, Riau Islands.

"The reason is that the crew of the MT Metis ship will return to their home country of Pakistan and are no longer working on the MT Metis ship," he explained.

Currently, the Police have conducted interrogations on the shipping agent PT Trans Shiping. These 9 people have been interrogated and coordinated with the Port Health Quarantine Office (KKP) and Bhayangkara Hospital Polda Kepri.
