Batam - Five sub-districts in Batam, Riau Islands are now in the red zone status. This happened following the high number of Corona cases in Batam.

The expansion of the Corona red zone in Batam was also marked by the shrinking of the green, yellow, and orange zones.

The latest situation map released by the Batam Covid-19 Task Force Team data as of August 30 showed the dominance of the red zone on this scorpion-shaped island.

The status of the red zone was embedded in Batam Kota, Sei Beduk, Nongsa, Lubuk Baja, Sekupang and Batuaji Districts.

Meanwhile, the orange zone was embedded in Sagulung and Bengkong Districts. The yellow zone was in Batu Ampar and Bulang Districts.

For Bulang District, it was embedded yellow zone status after the green zone status that had been carried for several months ended.

Meanwhile, Belakang Padang and Galang Districts still maintained their green zone status.

The expansion of the Corona red zone in Batam was speculated due to a spike in cases. There were an additional 46 cases in the last week of August 2020, to be precise Sunday (30/8/2020).

Data from the Batam Covid-19 Task Force Team showed the additional 46 cases consisted of 19 men and 27 women.

Residents who work in medical services, both medical and administrative personnel still dominated these additional cases, by number with 33 cases.

Apart from workers in medical services, there were also entrepreneurs, employees, students, expatriates, housewives to lawyers who have been exposed to Covid-19.
