Batam, Batamnews - The Batam Business Administration Hospital (BU RSBP Batam) inaugurated the five latest health services at the Batam RSBP Meeting Room, Sekupang, on Wednesday (12/8/2021)

The five services that were inaugurated include Electrophysiology and Cardiac Ablation Studies to treat cardiac arrhythmia interventions, Endourology, Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL), and Retrogade Intra Renal Surgery (RIRS) to destroy kidney stones in the urinary tract, Mammography for breast gland scans in breast cancer patients and the Alamanda Pavilion at the Mental Health Clinic.

Director of RSBP Batam, dr. Afdhalun A. Hakim in his speech said that these five services are an effort of the Batam Hospital to complete medical facilities and infrastructure to prepare for the establishment of the Sekupang International Health Special Economic Zone (KEK).

“Today we inaugurated five health services, both for procedures for treating heart disease, urinary tract, breast cancer, and psychiatric. This is a form of BP Batam's commitment to preparing for the formation of the KIS SEZ," said Afdhalun.

He hopes that the presence of these five health services will be able to encourage the people of Batam and Riau Islands Province to seek treatment at the Batam Hospital, without having to go abroad for treatment.

Based on data obtained from the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI), the Indonesian people have spent Rp 160 trillion per year on the cost of treatment carried out abroad, especially in Singapore and Malaysia.

"There is no need to go far for treatment to Singapore or Malaysia because Batam now has complete health facilities to accommodate the needs of health services for the community," concluded Afdhalun.

The activity then continued with a ribbon-cutting in each health care room, as a symbol of the inauguration of the five newest health services at the Batam Hospital.

The inauguration was also attended by the Chairman of the Indonesian Hospital Association, dr. Abraham; representatives of the Batam City Health Office, the Indonesian Clinical Association (Asklin), BPJS Health, and BPJS Employment Batam.
