Batam, Batamnews - On September 1st, Batam Center International Port experienced an increase in entrance fees, directly affecting the price of travel tickets.

Tania, a ticket attendant at the port, explained that the ticket price hike is a result of the increased entrance fees to the international port. "The ticket prices went up because of the increase in the port's entrance tax," she stated on Monday (9/4/2023).

Previous Prices and Passenger Reactions

Previously, the round-trip ticket price to Singapore was 730,000 rupiahs. However, with the increased entrance fees, the ticket price has now risen to 760,000 rupiahs, marking a 4.11% increase from the previous price.

An anonymous passenger expressed slight surprise at the increase. "I was somewhat surprised, the ticket prices have indeed gone up; the increase is noticeable," they said.

Meanwhile, another passenger, Dimas, accepted the ticket price increase with resignation. "Well, what can we do," he remarked, fully aware of the situation.

Impact on International Travel

Batam Center International Port serves as a major gateway for many passengers heading abroad, especially to Singapore's Harbourfront.

The increase in ticket prices will affect travelers who now have to deal with additional costs due to the rise in entrance fees to the port.
